New Zealand Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act
We manage and send newsletters and email marketing campaigns for many companies and organisations in New Zealand. All email campaigns sent through our servers are required to comply with the New Zealand Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act and our customers have agreed to this when they signed up to use our services. You can review our full terms of service here. The Act requires that our customers only send to contacts who have consented to receive their emails, include accurate contact information in all of the emails they send and include a functional unsubscribe mechanism.
There are three types of consent, express, inferred and deemed, for more information please refer to: https://www.dia.govt.nz/Spam-Three-Steps
If you believe that you have been sent an email in breach of this Act or any other law please see the Reporting Violations section below.
New Zealand Privacy Act
All of our customers are required to comply with the New Zealand Privacy Act. For further information about this Act please refer to: https://www.privacy.org.nz/privacy-act-2020/privacy-principles/
If you believe that we or one of our customers has violated this Act in relation to their use of our services please see the Reporting Violations section below.
To unsubscribe from a contact list
All email campaigns and newsletters that we send include an unsubscribe link, usually located at the bottom of the email. Clicking this link will promptly unsubscribe you from the contact list. Alternatively replying to the email to let the sender know that you would like to opt out of future emailings should resolve the problem. If you continue to have problems see the Reporting Violations section below.
To remove yourself from all lists
You can add yourself to our block list which will prevent our system from sending you further emails. Please allow up to 48 hours for this to come into effect. This is because emails already sent to you may not have arrived yet.
To block yourself click here.
Transparency
All email campaigns and newsletters we send are required to include contact information for the company responsible for the email, usually located at the bottom of the email. This information includes a contact address and/or telephone number.
Access and corrections
The New Zealand Privacy Act gives you the right to request information that a company holds about you and to request changes to this information. All of our customers are required to include accurate contact information in all of their email campaigns so that you can make requests to them directly. You can also make requests to us using our contact details at the bottom of this page.
Disclosure
The privacy of the companies we work for and their customers is very important to us. We collect and store personally identifiable information such as names and email addresses gathered through subscription forms. The information we collect is treated as confidential and will never be sold, given, rented, traded or otherwise disclosed to any third party without the consent of all identifiable parties involved.
Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process.
Security and data sovereignty
We take appropriate measures and use appropriate technology to ensure the security of all personally identifiable information we keep, these measures include the use of multi factor authentication, encryption at rest, DDOS prevention, web application firewall and real-time malware detection. All data is stored in New Zealand and subject to New Zealand laws and protections.

Email Headers
Using extended email headers, we can track the originator of any email sent from BoltMail. We use the following headers:
Header | Description |
---|---|
X-Job | A unique ID for the campaign, we need this header to know which customer sent the campaign |
List-Unsubscribe | A URL you can visit to unsubscribe yourself from this list |
X-Report-Abuse | A URL you can visit to report the email to us, using this URL saves you from sending the headers to us |
